IPT-k is an abbreviation for Integrated Psychological Therapy-cognitive training.
In the following, the methodology is referred to as IPT and should not be confused with IPT in the sense of Interpersonal Psychotherapy, which is a different form of treatment.
IPT is a proven effective method. for group cognitive training, with strong support from research results. The program consists of 20 sessions and is designed for people with cognitive impairments.
Manuals and course materials are available free of charge in electronic form and are included in the course. Packages with printed versions of the same materials can be ordered. Learn more via IPT in the top menu.
In an IPT group, 4-7 participants with cognitive difficulties are offered training in cognitive skills, social skills, and problem-solving.

👥 Small group, big support: With a group size of 4-7 participants and two group leaders working together, each individual receives the attention and support they need to succeed.
🔍 Strong research base: IPT is strongly supported by research for its ability to improve cognitive function and therefore has a high priority in the National Guidelines for Care and Support in Schizophrenia (2017) issued by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.
For people with cognitive difficulties for reasons other than schizophrenia, IPT-k is at least an activity with a stimulating effect and is perfectly suited to be offered in most residences, activity centers, wards and outpatient clinics.
📝 Materials and Resources: A comprehensive German-language manual is available, and it has also been translated into English. The Swedish mini-manual included in the course contains page references to the English version, making it easy to find information and use it as a reference book. A more comprehensive manual in Swedish translation will be published in the autumn of 2025.
