NECT stands for - Narrative Enhancement & Cognitive Therapy.

The methodology has the subtitle Develop your personal history and lessen self-stigma. NECT is an initiative that has strong support in research. You can find more about this under NECT in the top menu.

NECT is a 20-meeting group activity to reduce self-stigma and is aimed at people with mental health or illness. There is a manual for group leaders and a workbook for participants that provides support and structure for the work during the sessions.

One circumstance that can make it more difficult to recover and feel hope in the case of mental illness is that a person has begun to believe that misconceptions about the group they are part of are true and apply to them. For example, that someone with a psychotic illness cannot improve, that you cannot socialize with others if you have autism, that "depressed people should pull themselves together," etc.

Become a NECT group leader and make a difference for others:

📅 Two inspiring full days: Experience an intensive and rewarding two-day training via Teams. You will receive concrete teaching that guides you through the NECT program step by step.

Classroom size: The course is given in a small group where you can ask your questions during the course. The maximum number of participants is 20.

Schedule: During digital training days, we have a program with a 15-minute break per hour and a lunch break where you have time to eat. Experience shows that you get the most out of your time if you don't get too tired.

📽️ Videos: We watch several inspiring videos that show how to proceed as a group leader in a session. You will also receive the video links so you can watch them after the course.

Group exercises: Through small group exercises, you will have the opportunity to practice your skills as a group leader in a safe and supportive environment (in your own group room in Teams with four other participants). You will explore different scenarios to develop your ability to support and guide group participants.

🌟 Change: Become part of a growing community of NECT group leaders working to reduce stigma.
