Overview and tools: Build trust when meeting the person, in order to reach an agreement and find ways to collaborate. Find ways to talk to and support a person who has delusions, hallucinations, or disorganized behavior.

Are any prior skills required?

Not necessarily. You have your experience, that's a good starting point. We'll start from the beginning. But with prior knowledge, you'll of course gain other points from the day. This is a subject where the level is largely determined by you as a participant.

What you will learn:

🌿 Managing Psychotic Symptoms: Delusions, hallucinations, and disorganized speech and behavior are the most well-known manifestations of psychosis. We will discuss what these are and how to respond to and support affected individuals in various situations.

🌿 Cognitive challenges: Cognitive function is often affected during psychosis, in different ways for different individuals. We discuss how to provide support for problems with taking initiative, completing tasks, energy levels, attention, memory, empathy, and social interaction.

🌿 Substance abuse in relation to psychosis: Recognizing common patterns. What we know about what causes what.

🌿 How do investigation and treatment work? What investigations, interventions and working methods are relevant? Which treatments work - what is the state of knowledge? Learn to know what interventions you can/should request from healthcare, social services and others.

🌿 Manage conversations: Structure the conversation to work when the person is affected by hallucinations, delusions, and cognitive impairments.
